The ownership budget

Put a number on your running costs.

There is no single electricity bill that applies to every hot tub. Your model, weather, settings, use and tariff all matter.

Start with a useful energy figure

Use measured consumption over a representative period, or a manufacturer’s documented estimate. Check whether the figure includes heating from cold, filtration and normal use. A heater’s power rating is not the same as its total daily consumption.

Make the comparison fair

Use the same tariff and comparable test conditions for each shortlisted model. Ask for water and air temperatures, cover status, duration and usage assumptions. Repeat your estimate for colder weather instead of treating a summer reading as a year-round promise.

Budget for more than electricity

Add water, treatment products, filters, servicing and a reserve for repair or cover replacement. Get current quotes for installation and delivery before deciding on the total budget.

What could the electricity cost?

Use measured daily consumption or a manufacturer estimate with stated test conditions. Enter your own tariff.

This is an electricity-only scenario, not a running-cost claim for a particular spa. It excludes water, treatment, maintenance, repairs and any standing charge.
